Digital Media Outreach Intern
Greenleaf Book Group is seeking an exceptional candidate for our Digital Media Outreach (DMO) Intern position. This is a paid internship offering hands-on experience working within the DMO team at a hybrid publishing and distribution company based in Austin, Texas. As the intern, you will gain practical experience supporting digital publicity campaigns for a diverse range of authors and books while learning how strategic media relations and publicity efforts help bring books and authors to wider audiences.
The DMO Intern will support campaigns across a variety of nonfiction categories, working alongside Greenleaf’s DMO team on media research, outreach preparation, campaign tracking, author placements, and promotional efforts. The intern will gain exposure to the day-to-day strategies and operations behind successful book publicity, including researching relevant media outlets and podcasts, developing targeted media lists, tracking coverage, preparing interview briefing materials, and coordinating campaign details.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, curious about the media landscape, and interested in pursuing a career in public relations, publishing, communications, or marketing.
Responsibilities may include:
- Maintain publicity campaign trackers, internal databases, and spreadsheets
- Assist with media research and targeted media list development
- Track author media placements and campaign activity
- Collect live media links and placement information
- Organize and maintain author media assets
- Prepare routine campaign reporting
- Assist with podcast profile setup and vendor coordination
- Track outstanding media requests and follow-up opportunities
- Prepare briefing information for confirmed interviews
- Monitor campaign deadlines and follow-up dates
- Handle selected administrative campaign communications
- Support placement promotion and documentation
- Create promotional materials for author campaigns
- Provide general administrative and organizational support to the publicity team
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in public relations, media relations, or communications
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with attention to detail
- Collaborative and comfortable working closely with colleagues across a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinker who brings fresh ideas and is excited to find new ways to promote authors and their work
- Curious about the media landscape, publishing industry, and evolving ways to connect books and authors with audiences
- A genuine love of books and enthusiasm for working with authors and their stories
- Located in the Austin area
Pay:
$12/hour
No more than 30 hours a week
Our office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, and our intern would need to be available during these hours.
