Structural Engineer – Full Time Entry Level – Truman P. Young & Associates

We are looking for full-time, entry-level engineers to perform engineering design, analysis, and construction support for a variety of clients. Applicable Interests:

• Strong academic performance in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Structural Engineering (a minimum of 3.3 is required for consideration).
• Experience/coursework and interest in Structural design & analysis of steel, concrete, and masonry structures such as frames, columns, bridges, platforms, retaining walls, and buildings in multiple industries.
• Interest in working on a variety of projects for clients, gradually progressing in technical complexity and professional responsibility.
• Willingness to complete FE exam before or at the time of hire.

You will work with an experienced engineer to learn the following skills:

• Assess and document existing structures and buildings.
• Analyze and design complex steel frames, concrete foundations, and other structural elements of buildings.
• Prepare construction cost estimates.
• Prepare design drawings and details using 2-D and 3-D CAD software.
• Prepare and edit technical specifications.
• Perform field inspections and assist with construction administration.
• Investigate and interpret building codes.
• Complete analysis through hand calcs and/or finite element analysis software.
• Provide Structural Engineering support on wider mechanical, electrical, and automation projects.
• Meet with clients, contractors, and colleagues throughout the design and construction process. Build and maintain long-term relationships.

This position provides an opportunity for periodic project-related travel.
