Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The general purpose of this job is to contribute to meeting the goals and objectives of UDM's TRiO Student Support Services Program.
- The Peer Mentor will support the academic success of low-income and first- generation student, as well as students with documented disabilities.
- The peer mentor will meet with and provide mentoring, assist with developing program, and assist with maintenance of paper and electronic records and other direct services.
- Other duties as assigned:
- Mentor TRiO-eligible students.
- Tutor/Provide Academic Support for TRIO-eligible students.
- Assist with the maintenance of paper and electronic records.
- Plan and execute TRiO allowable programming.
- Facilitate follow-up communication with TRiO students via email or phone calls.
- Manage office traffic and daily contact sheets.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience with mentoring, tutoring, and facilitating office duties, such as answering phones, filing, greeting, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (if any):
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer skills such as MS Office, internet research, etc.
- Knowledge and ability to work with low income, first- generation students, students with disabilities, etc.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Varies between the hours of 9am-8pm.
