Mechanical Engineering Intern

Johns Manville is looking for Engineering students for their 2027 Summer Internship Program to be based in Waterville.

 

Our intern program is designed to provide hands-on engineering and business experience through challenging assignments focused on innovation and growth.

 

We take a holistic approach to our internships by assigning meaningful projects, educating interns on JM's history and values, and providing additional development and volunteer opportunities.

 

At the completion of their summer internship, JM interns present their work to senior management at our corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado. These leaders provide valuable feedback and insight for interns as they enter the workforce.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Engineers who are interested in a 2027 summer internship who are available to start at the middle to end of May and work full time until the first week of August.

 

Important Information:

Interns thrive at JM because we give our employees the ability to do things they wouldn't be able to anywhere else. As an Engineering Intern in Waterville you will work side by side with other engineering professionals and plant leadership by participating in hands on activities such as sampling, analysis, troubleshooting, and process improvements as well as be responsible for documentation and various plant initiatives.

 

Your Day to Day:

  • Review production data
  • Participate in coordination with appropriate team members on priorities for line work
  • Identify process improvement opportunities
  • Manage projects along with daily work
  • Collaborate & manage contractors as needed
  • Take an active part in the execution of product development projects.
  • Develop and integrate product and process documentation ensuring consistency and accuracy

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • Completed at least sophomore year of undergraduate course work and enrolled in classes for coming semester.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • GPA of at least 3.0 at an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Basic understanding of production processes
  • Strategic and creative thinking
  • AutoCAD experience
