Job Summary:

This is an Internal Employment Opportunity.

The Division of Extension and Engagement's Family and Community Health program is seeking a TEAM Oregon Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The mission of the OSU https://engagement.oregonstate.edu/about (division) is to work with communities throughout Oregon to support lifelong learning and co-create innovative solutions to address local challenges. Together, we envision a future where Oregon's people, communities and ecosystems prosper.

The Team Oregon director is responsible for all aspects of the design, implementation, and management of the motorcycle rider education program in Oregon. This includes oversight of statewide training sites and rider-training courses; procurement and distribution of materials and equipment; student enrollment and scheduling; customer service; instructor recruitment, on-boarding, training, supervision, compliance, scheduling, and payroll; program budgeting, evaluation, and forecasting; outreach activities; and adherence to all Oregon State University and related state or federal policy and practice.

Key Responsibilities:

- The Director is responsible for the leadership and supervision of all Team Oregon operational functions. The Director is expected to lead by always fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, adherence to applicable policy, and continuous improvement.

- Maintains a productive working relationship with key partners at OSU and ODOT. Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders and partners in the motorcycle safety community. Additionally, the position serves as liaison with other state and federal agencies, the motorcycle industry, law enforcement, the research community, the motorcycle community, and motorcyclist rights organizations.

- Provides strategic leadership to and supervision of Team Oregon managers, working closely on all aspects of organizational operations, improvement, and efficiency. The Director provides a clear vision of the program mission to all partners, employees, and stakeholders.

- Directs fiscal planning, organizational stewardship and management of a $3 million annual operating budget. Develops and establishes an annual business plan and budget; monitors and approves expenditures; and evaluates programs for efficient and effective operation.

- The Director is tasked with seeking highway safety grant funding and submitting timely proposals that will improve, enhance, and sustain Team Oregon.

- Provides direct supervision of four professional faculty: the business manager, communications manager, operations manager, and training manager. The Director is ultimately responsible for the success of every employee within the Team Oregon unit. The Director evaluates employee performance and supports professional development opportunities.

- Responds to legislative proposals and testifies before legislative committees as needed in alignment with OSU expertise and policy. Furthermore, the Director analyzes program impact of proposed changes in laws, regulations, and procedures.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant professional experience or twelve years of relevant professional experience demonstrating progressively responsible responsibility in program operations, management, leadership, training, or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

- Current motorcycle endorsement and a minimum of 5 years and 15,000 miles of current, on-street riding experience.

- Qualified Team Oregon instructor.

- Experience teaching the endorsement-level trainings (Team Oregon Basic or Intermediate Rider Training).

- Demonstrated ability to proactively manage perceived or actual conflicts of interest or conflicts of commitment in consistent alignment with guiding policies and processes.

- Demonstrated ability to successfully and positively interact with and gain support of partners, funders, administrative officials, the general public, and program personnel to meet objectives while maintaining strong working relationships.

- Experience as a supervisor, including recruiting, hiring, mentoring and coaching, promotion and discipline.

- Experience as a project director, with demonstrated ability to lead simultaneous business efforts according to expected scope, budget, and timeline.

- Demonstrated exceptional customer service orientation in balancing compliance and customer needs.

- Proven ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships and positive work culture among groups of people with varying backgrounds, skillsets and expectations.

- Ability to work autonomously, setting own goals, and objectives to fulfill program priorities.

- Demonstrated ability as a leader to analyze and manage complex and sensitive issues and situations, identify challenges and solutions, forecast outcomes of proposed actions, and implement effective courses of action.

- A commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Ten years and 50,000 miles of current, on-street riding experience.

- Experience as a Team Oregon mentor instructor or guardian advisor, or offering quality assurance to other instructors.

- Dedication to Land Grant mission

- Five years' experience as a motorcycle safety instructor or equivalent experience as a coach or trainer in another relevant discipline.

- Experience as manager of 50+ personnel, including subordinates or volunteers.

- Demonstrated commitment to integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement, including the ability to build trust, take responsibility for decisions and outcomes, seek and respond constructively to feedback, and consistently demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism.

Working Conditions/Schedule:
• The incumbent will be required to use their personal wireless devices (cellular phones or internet connections when away from OSU premises) for conducting OSU business.
• TEAM OREGON courses are taught during evening hours and on weekends, so occasional weekend and evening work activity will be required.
• Advisory committee meetings, instructor training, and community events are held in evenings and weekends, so some weekend and evening work activity will be required.
• State, regional, and national meetings and conferences require some overnight travel, including weekends.

Salary Range:

$144,100- $159,300
