The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region is seeking a motivated, creative, and detail-oriented undergraduate student to join our team as a Marketing, Business & Administrative Intern.
This paid internship provides hands-on professional experience in marketing and communications, business operations, nonprofit administration, and community engagement. The intern will support real Foundation projects while gaining exposure to the day-to-day operations of a community-focused nonprofit organization.
Location: On-site in Fredericksburg, Virginia
Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week; Monday–Thursday availability required
Duration: Minimum 8-week commitment
Pay: $20/hour
Responsibilities
The intern will assist with a variety of marketing, communications, business, and administrative projects, including:
- Creating content for social media, email communications, and other outreach
- Designing promotional and informational materials
- Supporting photography, storytelling, and content development
- Assisting with event promotion and communications
- Supporting front desk and general office operations
- Assisting with meeting preparation, research, data entry, and document organization
- Supporting Foundation programs, events, and special projects
- Participating in team meetings and collaborative projects across departments
Qualifications
Applicants should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Candidates should be dependable, detail-oriented, creative, comfortable using Microsoft Office, and eager to learn in a professional environment.
Students studying Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or related fields are especially encouraged to apply, although all majors are welcome. Experience with social media, content creation, photography, graphic design, marketing, communications, sales, or administrative work is a plus.
Professional Development
The intern will work alongside Foundation staff and contribute to meaningful projects that support the organization and the greater Rappahannock River Region. The experience is designed to help students strengthen their professional skills, build their portfolio, and gain practical experience in marketing, business, and nonprofit operations.
At the conclusion of the internship, the intern will deliver a brief presentation highlighting key projects, accomplishments, and takeaways.
