2026-2027 Marketing Intern
Our environmental education nonprofit is growing rapidly, and we're looking to bring on a Marketing & Digital Content Intern for the fall and spring of the 2026-2027 school year. We're looking for a student who is enrolled full-time in a major university, studying marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, or a related field such as advertising or journalism.
This role blends social media strategy with digital content and design, ideal for someone hoping to expand their skill set as both a social media strategist and a visual storyteller, and who is eager to learn how to implement best practices across social, web, and email marketing. We'll offer hands-on training in a number of tools, including SocialBee, Facebook/Instagram Ads, Google Analytics, social media analytics platforms, Canva, WordPress, Brizy, MailChimp, Google Ads, the Google Display Network, Google Tag Manager, and more.
Responsibilities and Duties
Social Media Strategy & Community Management
- Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies across multiple platforms
- Create and organize cross-platform content calendars and weekly/monthly posting schedules
- Develop new social media campaigns from the ground up, reflecting our nonprofit's values and those of our partner nonprofits and brands
- Monitor social channels for trending news, ideas, and memes, and capitalize on relevant trends
- Engage with followers and manage community interactions across all social platforms
- Conduct competitor analysis and social media research
Content Creation & Design
- Use Canva and other design tools to create infographics, partner materials, social media assets, and promotional materials
- Design and produce video content for social media (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and website use
- Write compelling copy for social posts, newsletters, website content, and campaign materials that aligns with brand voice and drives engagement
- Edit and optimize images and videos for various digital platforms
- Create templates and brand guidelines for consistent content creation
Paid Advertising & Analytics
- Launch and manage paid social media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Launch and manage Google Ads, Google Display Network, and other digital advertising campaigns
- Assist with capturing and analyzing social and web performance metrics using tools such as Facebook Insights, Instagram Analytics, and Google Analytics
Website & Email
- Develop and help implement a nonprofit newsletter and content hub via the website and MailChimp
- Create content and new digital assets for the website using WordPress and Brizy
- Assist with website updates, landing page creation, and user experience improvements
Qualifications and Skills
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program required (full-time), studying marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, or a related field such as advertising or journalism
- Strong familiarity with major social media platforms - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn - and current social media trends and best practices
- Impeccable written communication skills with strong copywriting abilities
- Strong creative and visual design abilities; experience with design software and content creation tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of brand consistency
- Ability to multi-task, take initiative, take direction, and absorb information quickly
- Hardworking, dedicated outlook, and able to work a flexible schedule
