Summer Internship Program

OLI Summer Internship Program

Location: Parsippany, NJ
Timeframe: Summer 2027 | Approximately 8–10 Weeks
Opportunities: Full-time and part-time opportunities may be available depending on project and team needs

Build Something That Matters

At OLI, we don't just optimize processes, we help engineers solve some of the world's most complex chemistry challenges. For more than 50 years, OLI has combined deep expertise in electrolyte thermodynamics, aqueous chemistry, corrosion, and process simulation with innovative software to help organizations understand complex chemical systems, make better decisions, and tackle challenges across industries including energy, water treatment, mining, chemicals, and sustainability.

Our technology is used by engineers and organizations around the world, but OLI is about more than chemistry and software. Behind our products is a multidisciplinary team spanning science, software development, customer success, consulting, product, finance, HR, marketing, and business operations.

The OLI Summer Internship Program gives students the opportunity to become part of that team.

This isn't an internship built around busywork or simply observing from the sidelines. Each intern will be matched with a defined project tied to a real OLI business need, with clear deliverables, dedicated mentorship, and an opportunity to demonstrate the impact of their work.

Over the course of the summer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals, develop practical skills, receive ongoing feedback, and gain firsthand experience working within a global scientific technology company.

Where You Could Make an Impact

Internship opportunities vary each year based on OLI's business needs and approved projects. Areas may include:

  • Software Development & Technology: Contribute to software development, testing, automation, APIs, data, AI-enabled workflows, or other technology initiatives supporting OLI's scientific software platform.
  • Properties, Materials & R&D: Work alongside scientists and technical experts on chemical and materials data, thermodynamic modeling, research methodologies, validation, and applications of OLI technology.
  • Commercial & Marketing: Support projects related to market research, digital marketing, customer engagement, business development, sales enablement, branding, or OLI's global go-to-market strategy.
  • Customer Success, Consulting & Product: Help improve how customers learn, use, and gain value from OLI technology through technical content, process improvements, product initiatives, customer support, or consulting-related projects.
  • Finance & Business Operations: Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to projects involving finance, data, process improvement, HR, automation, reporting, and other cross-functional initiatives that help OLI operate more effectively.

What Your Summer at OLI Could Look Like

You'll begin by learning about OLI, your team, and the problem you've been asked to help solve. From there, you'll work with an assigned supervisor to take ownership of your project and move it from idea to outcome.

Throughout the internship, you can expect:

  • A defined project with a real business need and measurable outcome
  • Weekly 1:1 guidance from your supervisor
  • Opportunities to collaborate with people across OLI
  • Ongoing feedback and professional development
  • A midpoint check-in to discuss progress and development
  • A final presentation where you'll share what you worked on, what you learned, and the impact of your project
