Intern Foundation for Culinary Arts

Position Title: Intern – Foundation for Culinary Arts

Location: Hybrid (Remote & In-person in Chicago, as needed) West Loop - A few blocks from the UIC/Halsted blue line stop and the Morgan brown line stop

Duration: Fall 2026, 10 weeks; 10 hrs/wk

Compensation: $10-$15/hr

 

About the Foundation for Culinary Arts:

The Foundation for Culinary Arts is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable access to culinary education and career opportunities. Through dynamic programming such as the Yes, Chef! Culinary Program - Camps + Master Classes, mentorship initiatives, and scholarship support, we empower aspiring chefs and culinary professionals — particularly youth from disinvested communities on the south and west side of Chicago — to thrive in the food industry.

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to support our programs, marketing, and development efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about food, education, and social impact nonprofit work to gain hands-on experience across multiple facets of a mission-driven organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Program Support
    • Assist in the planning and execution of culinary programs and special events.
    • Help with camper outreach, enrollment tracking and scheduling.
    • Prepare materials and supplies for camps.
    • Data management and analysis of completed surveys.
  • Marketing & Communications
    • Draft social media content and support campaign planning.
    • Create and maintain social media calendar.
    • Assist with email newsletters, website updates and photo/video archiving.
    • Conduct research on trends and partners to enhance the organization’s visibility and reach.
    • Accompany executive director to events and media appearances as needed.
  • Development & Fundraising
    • Support donor outreach and engagement strategies.
    • Assist in grant research, reporting, and data entry.
    • Assist in creating a master key for grant applications.
    • Help create sponsorship decks and event collateral.
  • Administrative Support
    • Maintain organized files and contact lists (e.g., media, donors, vendors).
    • Provide logistical assistance before and during events or board meetings.
    • Perform other tasks as needed to support the office.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for social impact, food, culinary arts and/or nonprofit work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proficient Microsoft suite, Canva, Meta; Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), WordPress and Adobe Acrobat a plus
  • Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must be 18+ and available to attend occasional in-person events in Chicago
