SupplyBistro is a technology startup building the *data, commerce, and operating platform for the food economy*. Our platform combines SaaS, e-commerce, B2B marketplaces, data, AI, procurement, order management, and supply-chain operations into an integrated platform for food businesses.
Our interns work directly with a live technology platform and participate in the Agile/Scrum processes used to design, build, test, release, and improve our software.
## The Opportunity
The *Quality Engineering & Automation Intern* helps SupplyBistro improve not just whether software is tested, but *how quality is engineered throughout the software-development lifecycle*.
This role goes beyond traditional test execution. You will work across quality planning, test design, automation, test data, defect prevention, root-cause analysis, process improvement, quality controls, and engineering practices that help teams build better software earlier.
Hands-on testing is part of the role, but it is *secondary to building and improving SupplyBistro's overall quality capability*.
This is a strong opportunity for a student interested in the intersection of *software engineering, quality engineering, automation, product development, data, and DevSecOps*.
## What You'll Do
* *Engineer quality into the SDLC* — Help identify where quality checks, standards, and controls should occur from requirements through production.
* *Design QA approaches* — Determine how features should be validated and what combination of functional, integration, regression, API, data, and other testing techniques should be used.
* *Improve QA processes* — Identify weaknesses in current testing practices and help design repeatable processes that improve quality and reduce rework.
* *Develop test automation* — Help identify appropriate automation candidates and build or improve automated testing using tools such as Selenium and related technologies.
* *Improve testability* — Work with developers and product analysts to make requirements, acceptance criteria, system behavior, and technical implementations easier to validate.
* *Design preventative quality controls* — Look beyond finding defects to determine how similar defects can be prevented from occurring again.
* *Perform root-cause analysis* — Examine patterns in defects and failures to identify underlying process, requirements, design, development, or testing issues.
* *Develop and manage test data* — Help establish reusable, reliable test-data strategies across different business scenarios and environments.
* *Expand technical testing* — Use APIs, databases, Django Admin, browser development tools, logs, and other system interfaces to validate behavior beyond the user interface.
* *Support regression strategy* — Help identify critical workflows and establish effective regression coverage as the platform grows.
* *Measure quality* — Help develop meaningful quality metrics, defect trends, coverage measures, and other indicators that can guide engineering decisions.
* *Apply AI to quality engineering* — Explore responsible use of AI for generating test scenarios, analyzing requirements, identifying coverage gaps, accelerating automation, and improving QA productivity.
* *Collaborate across engineering* — Work closely with full-stack developers, Product Analysts, DevSecOps, Scrum/PMO, and Software Testing interns.
* *Perform targeted testing* — Execute tests when necessary to investigate complex scenarios, validate new approaches, assess risk, or support the broader QA effort.
