Youth Basketball Coach for After School Program

Job Responsibilities

• Lead basketball classes for elementary school students in a fun, safe, and structured environment.
• Teach age-appropriate basketball fundamentals, including:
  • Dribbling
  • Passing
  • Shooting
  • Ball handling
  • Footwork
  • Defense
  • Basic game concepts
• Plan and conduct engaging drills, games, and activities.
• Take attendance and follow student safety and supervision procedures.
• Follow school check-in and check-out procedures.
• Arrive on time and be fully prepared for each class.
• Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and the After School Life program coordinator.
• Create a positive experience that encourages children to enjoy basketball and physical activity.

Qualifications

• Basketball playing or coaching experience preferred.
• Experience working with elementary-age children is a plus.
• Previous experience in youth sports, coaching, PE, camps, childcare, or education preferred.
• Energetic, patient, positive, and enthusiastic personality.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
• Comfortable leading a group of children independently.
• Ability to demonstrate and teach basic basketball skills.
• College or university students with basketball or youth-program experience are encouraged to apply.
• Have reliable transportation and valid driver's license

Job Detail:

Class will be held at an elementary school in San Jose every Monday starting 9/14/2026 - 11/2/2026 (8 weeks). Class time 2:45 - 3:30 pm (45 mins class).

Pay rate: $60 / class
