Spanish Teacher

Spanish Teacher for After School Program

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Teach Spanish to elementary school students in a fun, age-appropriate, and interactive way.
  • Plan and lead engaging lessons that incorporate basic vocabulary, conversational phrases, pronunciation, games, songs, activities, and cultural learning.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Encourage students to participate and build confidence using Spanish.
  • Adjust activities and instruction based on students' age and skill level.
  • Arrive on time and be prepared with lesson materials and activities.
  • Follow school check-in, check-out, and student safety procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and the After School Life program coordinator.
  • Take attendance and ensure students are safely supervised throughout the class.
  • Provide a fun and positive experience that encourages students to enjoy learning Spanish.

Qualifications

  • Fluent or highly proficient in Spanish.
  • Previous experience working with elementary-age children preferred.
  • Teaching, tutoring, childcare, camp, or youth program experience is a plus.
  • Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate activities.
  • Patient, energetic, dependable, and professional.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Must be reliable and committed to the scheduled class dates.
  • College or university students studying education, Spanish, child development, or a related field are encouraged to apply.

School Location and information: 

San Jose - Thursday 2:45 - 3:30 pm (45 mins class) but the teacher has to be at the school 15 minutes before class time to check in and prepare for the class. Start date 9/17 - 11/5 (8 session). Pay rate: $60/class
