Creative Dance Teacher for After School Program
Responsibilities:
- Teach fun, engaging, age-appropriate creative dance classes to elementary school students.
- Introduce students to basic dance movements, rhythm, coordination, body awareness, and creative expression.
- Plan and lead structured weekly lessons that are appropriate for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.
- Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating.
- Follow school check-in/check-out procedures and After School Life program policies.
- Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and the After School Life program team.
- Arrive on time and be prepared with lesson plans and necessary teaching materials.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude when working with children, families, and school personnel.
Qualification:
- Experience teaching dance, creative movement, performing arts, or working with elementary-age children preferred.
- Dance training, teaching experience, or a background in dance/performing arts is a plus.
- Strong ability to engage and motivate young children.
- Patient, energetic, enthusiastic, and dependable.
- Comfortable leading a group of children independently.
- Good classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to create age-appropriate and fun dance activities.
- Must be responsible, punctual, and professional.
- Previous experience working in an elementary school or after-school program is preferred but not required.
- College students studying Dance, Education, Performing Arts, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
- Have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
Specific Class information:
Friday 3:00 - 4:00 pm at an elementary school in San Jose staritng 9/25 - 11/20 (No class 10/2).
Pay rate:
$60 / class (1 hour class but teacher has to be at the school 15 minutes before class time)
