Social Media & Content Intern

Social Media & Content Intern — Fall 2026

St. Jean Baptiste High School | New York, NY
Part-time | 8–10 hours per week | $20/hour
September–December 2026

St. Jean Baptiste High School is seeking a creative, thoughtful college student to serve as our Social Media & Content Intern for the Fall 2026 semester.

This is a hands-on storytelling role. We are looking for someone who can help us capture the energy, personality, and purpose of our school community and share it with a broader audience through engaging social media content.

St. Jean Baptiste is a Catholic, all-girls college-preparatory high school on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Our community is rooted in strong academics, faith, relationships, leadership, service, and the development of young women. The ideal candidate understands—or is eager to learn—the culture of a Catholic, all-girls school and can translate the everyday life of our community into content that feels authentic, current, warm, and engaging.

What You'll Do

The intern will divide their time between being on campus capturing content and independent editing, planning, and content development.

Responsibilities may include:

Spend approximately 4–6 hours per week on campus capturing photos and short-form video of student life, academics, athletics, arts, clubs, special programs, faith and service activities, and school events.

Create engaging short-form video content, including Instagram Reels.

Edit photos and videos for social media.

Draft captions and help communicate the voice and story of St. Jean Baptiste.

Help maintain a consistent social media content calendar.

Identify moments throughout the school day that would make compelling social content.

Develop recurring content ideas and series that highlight students, faculty, programs, traditions, and school culture.

Help us identify appropriate social media trends and creative approaches that could translate well to our school community.

Assist with scheduling and posting approved content.

Occasionally capture content at important school events outside of regular school hours.

This internship is less about traditional advertising and more about storytelling: noticing the moments that make a school community special and finding creative ways to share those moments with prospective students and families, alumnae, current families, and the wider public.

Fall Event Availability

We have two particularly important events this fall:

Wednesday, October 14, 2026

Sunday, October 25, 2026

We would love to hire someone who is available to help capture content at both events, but availability for at least one of the two is strongly preferred.

Hours during event weeks can be adjusted accordingly.

Who We're Looking For

This position would be a strong fit for a college student studying or interested in:

Communications

Marketing

Social media

Journalism

Public relations

Digital media

Film/video

Photography

Graphic design

Content creation

More important than a particular major is a strong creative eye and an instinct for what makes interesting social content.

The ideal candidate:

Is comfortable creating content for Instagram and other social platforms.

Can shoot and edit strong short-form video, primarily using a smartphone.

Understands the pacing and style of contemporary social media.

Has strong written communication skills.

Is reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently.

Enjoys being around high school students and can interact professionally and warmly with students and faculty.

Understands—or is willing to learn—Catholic school culture and can create content that respects the school's mission while still feeling current and authentic.

Is able to recognize a good story or social media moment without always needing to be told exactly what to capture.

Experience with tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Instagram, or similar platforms is helpful but not required.

Schedule & Compensation

8–10 hours per week

$20 per hour

September through December 2026

Combination of in-person work at St. Jean Baptiste High School and remote editing/planning

Schedule can be structured around the intern's college course schedule.

Occasional evening or weekend events may replace regularly scheduled weekday hours.

What You'll Gain

This internship provides the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of content rather than simply observe a communications team.

The intern will leave the semester with:

A portfolio of published social media content.

Hands-on experience developing content for an established organization.

Experience creating short-form video and telling stories across multiple areas of an organization.

Exposure to social media strategy, content planning, brand voice, and audience engagement.

The opportunity to help shape how a historic New York City school tells its story to the next generation of students and families.
