Job Summary
Functions as a liaison, subject matter expert, and process innovation partner for IT Services in assigned functional area(s) of the University. Facilitates the business analysis process to identify business requirements for system solutions, automation, and improved processes that increase efficiency, productivity, and value to the institution. Applies artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to accelerate discovery, requirements development, documentation, and testing, and to design solutions that reduce manual effort in university business processes. Serves as technical lead when developing project specifications and requirements both internal to the department and cross-departmental, and champions the responsible, policy-compliant adoption of AI and an automation mindset within assigned business area(s).
Responsibilities
- Serve as key liaison to other departments that have specific business functions
- Take initiative to proactively identify and drive improvements while applying critical thinking to analyze issues and opportunities to recommend practical solutions
- Evolve into a subject-matter expert who can easily liaise between other departments
- Perform current state analysis of existing business systems, applications and functions, applying process mining, data analysis, and AI-assisted review of documentation, service tickets and system data to surface bottlenecks, rework and automation candidates
- Produce timely and high quality requirements-related work products, including requirement specifications, process flows, mock-ups, and wire frames
- Partner with customers to scope, prioritize and fulfill data requests from the enterprise data lake, translating business questions into data requirements and delivering the appropriate solution while ensuring data accuracy, appropriate access and compliance with data governance
- Plan, facilitate, and execute system / functional testing and UAT for projects and enhancements
- Become deeply immersed and knowledgeable about core business functions, processes and workflows associated with assigned business areas and projects including extensive cross-training with other team members to ensure multiple subject matter experts within the BA team
- Understand the relationships, dependencies, and impact of neighboring business functions
- Understand core systems, applications, and technical platforms
- Collaborate with departments to identify, document, and communicate business needs and provide IT solutions, including AI-enabled and automated solutions
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
Required Experience
- Three (3) or more years of work-related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with regulatory policies and procedures such as HIPAA, PCI, FERPA, and GLBA, and with research data compliance requirements
- Familiarity with responsible AI principles and AI governance frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Enterprise and/or Line-Of-Business applications in the Higher Education environment
- Experience with Higher Education Auxiliary Enterprises (Retail Services, Dining, Card Services, Parking and Transportation), Life Safety, University Housing, Student Health Services,
- Facility Services, Controllers/Financials, and Human Resources
- Demonstrated experience applying generative AI tools (such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Google Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude in an enterprise deployment) to business analysis, documentation, or process improvement work
- Experience designing or implementing workflow automation using platforms such as Power Automate, Power Apps, ServiceNow, UiPath, Workato, or comparable low-code/no-code and robotic process automation tools
- Experience with intelligent document processing, conversational assistants, or agentic AI workflows in an enterprise setting
- Experience with process mining, process modeling (BPMN), or Lean / Six Sigma process improvement methods
- Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or advanced spreadsheet functions) for baselining and measuring process performance
Proposed Salary
$60,617 - $74,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
