Data Visualization Designer

Anyone can build a dashboard with fifty numbers on it. Almost no one can take five numbers and make them unforgettable. That is the type of person we are looking for in this role.

The work

We are building The Autoimmune Decade, an institutional report for investors, plus the slides and one-pagers around it. Your charts carry the argument: small datasets, high stakes, one clear insight per view, in the register of Mary Meeker and the New York Times. Few charts, each one exactly right.

What you bring

• You reason from the data, not the trend. A bar versus a line is a claim about the data, not a style choice.
• You are ruthless about accuracy. A chart that looks great and says the wrong thing is worse than no chart.
• You can say why a chart works, not just make it. You are able to explain why certain visualization techniques are more effective for displaying different types of data over others.

We will teach you the science and the strategy. You bring the eye and the rigor. Your degree matters less than your judgment.

Not this role

No dashboards. No big-data analytics. No dense, everything-at-once displays. No decoration dressed up as insight. If dashboards are your strongest work, this is not your role.
