County Executive Director Trainee

Make a difference in your community and help support farmers, ranchers, and producers as a County Executive Director Trainee with USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA)!

This position is  located in Centreville, MI part of the Michigan State FSA Office and is designed as a developmental role. The selected candidate will complete a 52-week training program to prepare them to assume a County Executive Director position within the state of Michigan. 

As a County Executive Director Trainee, you will hone professional skills and experience to prepare you for the County Executive Director role, with responsibilities that will include:

  • Carrying out permanent and ad hoc farm bill programs and policies as established by USDA and Congress.
  • Providing basic FSA farm loan program services to farmers, ranchers, and producers within assigned counties.
  • Supporting crop insurance operations under policies established by the Risk Management Agency (RMA).
  • Performing additional farm loan program assignments based on authorities delegated.
  • Performing administrative and field activities as needed to accomplish program objectives. 
  • Managing resources and directing activities of subordinate staff. 

The District Director, State Executive Director, State Committee, State Training Coordinator, State Office Specialist, and previous program participants will evaluate the trainee's performance at the end of the 52-week period to recommend them for permanent appointment. 

Following successful completion of the training program, trainees may be expected to relocate to a county office TBD within the state depending on agency needs.
