Entry Level Landscape Designer

About the Role

GLC Landscaping & Pools is seeking an Entry Level Landscape Designer to join our award-winning design-build team. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate who is passionate about landscape architecture, design, and seeing creative concepts turn into real, built environments.

This is primarily an office-based design position, where you’ll work on 2D and 3D designs alongside experienced designers and project managers. However, field measurements and site visits are an essential part of the role, giving you real-world exposure to how designs are informed, refined, and executed.

You’ll gain hands-on experience on active residential and commercial projects, not just theoretical work—making this a valuable stepping stone into a long-term career in landscape design.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Complete landscape design work in the office, including:

    • 2D layouts, concept plans, and construction-ready designs

    • 3D modeling and renderings for client presentations

  • Assist with site analysis, grading considerations, plant selection, and material research
  • Conduct field measurements and site visits to gather accurate data and better understand site conditions
  • Learn how designs move from concept → estimate → construction
Collaborate with sales, production, and field teams to ensure designs are buildable and aligned with client expectations
  • Participate in internal design reviews and team brainstorming sessions
  • Gain exposure to how weather, soils, drainage, and Southeast Michigan climate impact real-world design decisions

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or related program
  • Local to and familiar with Southeast Michigan climate, soils, and plant material
  • Experience or coursework using 2D and 3D design/modeling software
  • Comfortable working in both an office setting and on active job sites
  • Strong interest in residential landscape design, outdoor living spaces, and construction
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and take feedback
  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Portfolio or examples of school/project work encouraged (but not required)

Qualifications:

  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited Landscape Design program
  • Must have an understanding of landscape and native plants in the midwest.
  • Must have experience with 3D Modeling Software, preferably Uvision® 3D

Landscape Creator.

  • Job requires being cooperative with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, positive attitude.
  • Willingness to perform work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License
