Fulfillment Associate - Cohort Program

Grand Rapids, MI

As a Fulfillment Associate, you will begin your career at Mill Steel as part of a Cohort Class designed to give you a strong foundation in our business and culture. Your first five weeks will be dedicated entirely to orientation, reporting directly to our Training & Project Manager. During this time, your only job is to get to know us; who we are, what we do, and how our fulfillment functions work together. 

This immersive experience includes exposure to all key fulfillment areas (Logistics, Inside Sales, Quality Assurance, Material Applications, and more) as well as a dedicated “Plant Week”, where you will shadow and work alongside our plant employees. After completing orientation, you will transition into your permanent department role within the fulfillment team, applying your knowledge to support the seamless operation of our supply chain and customer service processes. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Orientation Month (Cohort Experience): 

Participate in a structured month-long orientation as part of a new hire cohort. 

Complete rotations through all fulfillment functions. 

Engage in “Plant Week” to shadow production employees and gain a firsthand understanding of operations. 

Build relationships across departments and develop a holistic view of our business. 

Learn how to use and engage with our company Enterprise Resource Planning System  

 

Post-Orientation Department Assignment: 

After completing orientation, you will transition into your permanent fulfillment department. While specific day-to-day tasks will vary depending on your placement (Logistics, Inside Sales, Quality Assurance, Material Applications, or another function), you can expect to: 

Collaborate with your assigned department (Logistics, Inside Sales, Quality Assurance, Material Applications, or another fulfillment area) to support daily operations. 

Manage and track customer orders, providing real-time updates and resolving issues as needed. 

Perform accurate data entry and recordkeeping within the IBM ERP system. 

Coordinate with Outside Processing vendors to track outsourced manufacturing processes and ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards. 

Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities. 

Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction. 

 

Qualifications: 

Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). 

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 

Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality. 

Basic understanding of supply chain principles and practices is a plus. 

Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems is a plus. 

 

Organizational Relationship: 

During orientation, you will report directly to the Training & Project Manager. 

After orientation, you will report within your assigned fulfillment department while continuing to collaborate across the organization. 

 

Travel & Location Requirements: 

 This position has minimal travel
