SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Contract Teacher is responsible for the care and education of children as a member of a classroom teaching team. The Contract Teacher will implement the program’s curriculum (Creative Curriculum), child assessment (Teaching Strategies GOLD), communicate with families, conduct bi-annual parent conferences, and maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Mandatory Job Qualifications
- Meet the Illinois DCFS Teacher requirements as outlined in Child Care Licensing Standards Section 407.150.
- Possess Childhood Development Associate (CDA), Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 semester hours of college coursework in early childhood education.
- Possess an Illinois Paraprofessional Educator License.
- Possess an Illinois Gateways ECE and/or Infant Toddler Credential Level 4 or higher (or be working towards this credential).
- Be able to lift children up to 50 lbs. if necessary.
- Possess current First Aid and CPR Certification (or obtain within first 30 days of hire).
Preferred job Qualifications
- Three to five years of early childhood teaching experience.
- Knowledge of Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
- Previous Prevention Initiative, Early Head Start, Head Start, and/or Preschool for All experience a plus.
- Knowledge of Google Workplace.
Salary: $22.00/hour
Job Type: Four-month contract with the possibility of the contract being extended; 6-hour shift during operating hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm.
