Dance Media & Archives Intern – Department of Fine Arts (DANCE) - FWS 

Description: 
The Dance Program is seeking a creative and organized Media & Archives Intern to assist in documenting, managing, and archiving video and photo content for rehearsals, performances, and other events. This role provides hands-on experience in media documentation and content creation. Key duties include: 

Documenting Events: Capture high-quality photos and videos during rehearsals, performances, workshops, and events; operate camera and AV equipment; attend key events to document behind-the-scenes moments and audience engagement. 

Archiving Media: Organize and maintain a media library, ensuring proper labeling, categorization, and storage of files. Ensure program confidentiality when sharing files.  

Editing Support: Assist with basic editing for photos and videos, preparing content for social media, websites, and promotional materials. 

Collaboration: Work with the Dance Program Coordinator to align media content with brand standards; lead social media content creation and track media use/permissions. 

Qualifications: 

Familiarity with photography and video equipment (DSLR, Cannon devices, smartphones) is required.  

Experience with photo/video editing software (Adobe, Photoshop, etc.) is a preferred. 

Previous media-related experience is a plus! 

Strong organizational skills for managing digital media archives. 

Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and create content for social media platforms 

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary content, including performances and rehearsals shared by dancers or guest artists. 

Fall 2026 Availability:  

The FWS intern & Supervisor will work collaboratively to establish a consistent schedule that supports the needs of the position, with an anticipated commitment of approximately 8–10 hours per week between Monday - Saturday.  

Primary Work Sites:  

Oddfellows Building: 1851 9th Street NW, Washington, DC 20010 

Dance Institute of Washington: 3400 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20010 

Spring 2027 Availability:  

Monday – Friday, 5pm–10pm. Saturday availability during any performances or other Dance Programmatic Events.
