Analyst Trainee
The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is accepting applications for candidates interested in an Analyst Trainee position for the Division of Capital Program Management, Personnel Unit. Analyst Trainees are assigned a 40-hour work week. Current starting salary is $58,222.22 and after six months is $60,876.32. The NJDOT currently offers a telework program, this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work at your primary residence outside of your assigned NJDOT work location. To be eligible for the program, you must first successfully complete your 4-month working test period. Please note that the telework program is not guaranteed and is based on operational need.
Within the Division of Capital Program Management, Office of the Assistant Commissioner, the Personnel Office is responsible for providing all personnel related support to the six (6) divisions with a workforce of 1300+ employees. This unit also has responsibility for providing direct support to the Assistant Commissioner and his management team as well as providing guidance and quality oversight in all personnel actions.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:The Personnel Unit also serves as a liaison to the Division of Human Resources and thus works closely with all areas in Human Resources. Support includes, but is not limited to, analyzing and processing employee appointments (hires, promotions, demotions, transfer, separations). Under the supervision of an Administrative Analyst 4, the appointee will receive on-the-job training and will be responsible for interpreting and applying Federal, State, Departmental and division policies, and procedures. Primary tasks involve the processing of personnel actions, conducting reference checks on potential hires and preparing new hire and promotional packages. Appointees will also be tasked with creating and maintaining tracking systems for all personnel related actions (disciplinary actions, transfers, leaves of absence, staffing, etc.)
REQUIREMENTSApplicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Four (4) years of professional experience relevant to the position.
- OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
