Legal Review Associate Intern
Built to Win Brand Agency
Internship | Volunteer-to-Permanent Opportunity | Remote
About Built to Win
Built to Win Brand Agency is a growing creative and brand development agency providing end-to-end brand strategy, identity, digital, marketing, and business development support to emerging businesses and organizations.
Through our Fall 2026 cohort, our team works alongside founders and growing brands as they develop and strengthen the foundations needed to operate, market, and scale their businesses.
The Opportunity
Built to Win is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Review Associate Intern to support the agency with legal research, document review, compliance considerations, and risk identification across our internal operations and client work.
This is initially an unpaid, volunteer internship opportunity designed to provide practical experience working alongside a growing agency and its portfolio of brands. Our goal is to build a long-term team, and exceptional interns may be considered for transition into a paid permanent Legal Review Associate position as agency funding and hiring capacity become available.
This role is especially well suited for a current law student, pre-law student, paralegal/legal studies student, or early-career professional interested in gaining practical exposure to contracts, intellectual property, advertising and marketing considerations, business operations, and startup legal issues.
What You'll Do
As a Legal Review Associate Intern, you may assist with:
Reviewing agency and client-facing agreements, policies, releases, waivers, and other business documents for potential issues requiring further legal review.
Conducting legal and regulatory research related to agency operations and client projects.
Researching intellectual property considerations involving trademarks, copyrights, brand names, creative assets, and content usage.
Supporting preliminary trademark and business-name research.
Reviewing marketing campaigns, promotional concepts, websites, and public-facing materials for potential legal or compliance concerns.
Assisting with the development and organization of contract templates, internal policies, disclosures, and documentation.
Identifying potential legal risks or questions that should be escalated to qualified legal counsel.
Maintaining organized records of legal research, reviews, recommendations, and supporting documentation.
Collaborating with agency leadership and cross-functional creative, strategy, operations, and web teams.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
Is currently pursuing or has completed coursework in law, pre-law, legal studies, paralegal studies, business law, or a related field.
Has strong legal research, analytical, and written communication skills.
Is exceptionally detail-oriented and comfortable reviewing documents carefully.
Understands the importance of confidentiality and professional discretion.
Can clearly distinguish between legal research/support and legal advice requiring licensed counsel.
Is comfortable working independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
Has an interest in entrepreneurship, startups, intellectual property, contracts, advertising, branding, or creative industries.
Law students and candidates with experience using legal research databases are strongly encouraged to apply.
Internship Experience
This internship is intended to provide meaningful, portfolio-building professional experience rather than observational work. The Legal Review Associate Intern will have opportunities to work with real-world business scenarios, participate in agency operations, and gain exposure to the legal considerations that arise when building brands and supporting growing businesses.
Current Status: Volunteer / Unpaid Internship
Work Arrangement: Remote
Program: Fall 2026 Cohort
Future Opportunity: Potential transition to a paid Legal Review Associate role based on performance, organizational need, and available agency funding. Conversion to paid employment is not guaranteed.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and a brief statement introducing yourself, your current area of study or legal experience, and why you're interested in working at the intersection of law, entrepreneurship, and brand development.
Selected applicants will be invited to a brief virtual interview with the Built to Win team.
