MTA Process Optimization Analyst

MTA Process Optimization Analyst Employer:

Schedule: Full-time, likely regular hours each week 

Program: This Job Is Part of the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option This position is available through the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option (MC/SYO), a program of the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation (DSCI). The program primarily serves young adults ages 18–24 and connects participants with paid, full-time jobs where they can gain real-world work experience, build professional skills, and serve Maryland communities. Participants work in their job for approximately 9 months. This position is expected to start as early as September 2026.

About the Position The Maryland Transit Administration, an agency within the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), is seeking a Process Optimization Analyst to assist with process improvements through data analysis, workflow automation, and inter-office coordination. The work is essential in modernizing project delivery practices, implementing automation solutions, and aligning processes with MTA's strategic goals. This position would give significant insight into how a transit agency operates and would provide excellent industry contacts. The position will work in the Capital Programming, Planning and Service Delivery area of the MTA organization.

 Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project management tools, automate workflows using Microsoft Power Platform, and integrate other technological solutions.
  • Create dashboards, automate data collection, and support strategic reporting needs.
  • Identify and analyze process inefficiencies, develop solutions, and implement improvements across multiple departments.
  • Work closely with teams throughout the organization to gather information, brainstorm solutions, evaluate changes, and resolve issues.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Support professional development and training staff.

Training and Independence Given the basic skills of the individual selected for this position they will be expected to work independently once they are brought up to speed. There is typically on-board training given by MTA Human Resources that familiarizes the individual with the MTA organization and value expectations. There will be the opportunity to meet those the member will need to regularly interact with to accomplish the deliverables related to their job. Ideal Candidate Someone will possess:

  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Script languages, such as R or Python.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps and Power Automate), Tableau or other data visualization software a plus.
