Program Assistant

Program Assistant- Adult Programs- Myrtle Beach Office
Part time, hourly, non-exempt
Title: Program Assistant – Adult Programs
Hours: Expected work schedule:
Foundations for Independent Living: Tuesday & Thursday 9:45am-3:15pm (21st Ave)
Adult Outings: Fridays 12:45pm-3pm
Monthly Team Meeting
Reports to: Independent Living Skills Program Manager
Objective:
Assists with all aspects of SOS Care Independent Living & Rec Club programs
Overview of Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist with preparation of the program including setting up area, ensuring proper supplies/materials are present, letting participants into the program, etc.

Assist with handing out materials, redirecting participants attention to being on-task, de-escalating problem behaviors, assisting participants, completing tasks as assigned.

Assist with cleaning up, putting away materials, wiping down tables and chairs, cleaning kitchen, taking out trash, locking kitchen door

Create opportunities for activities and outings to meet needs and preferences of participants.

Perform tasks assigned by each program leader/coordinator.

Positively contribute to the overall success of each program.

Maintain professional relationships with families, program participants, staff, interns, volunteers, and community partners

Work closely with the program coordinator for implementation of program goals and objectives.

Report any incidents or complaints to supervisor immediately.

Demonstrate all SOS Core values.

Attend monthly Program Level 10 meeting.

Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive situations and documentation.
SOS Expectations: Program Assistant is expected to follow all rules and guidelines as presented to the employee during employee orientation. The Program Coordinator will annually monitor performance and duties above and deliver an annual performance review. It is the responsibility of the Assistant to maintain open communication with their supervisor on a regular basis. It is the responsibility of the Program Assistant to notify Program Coordinator of absences, late arrivals, vacations, etc.
Qualifications: Program Assistant will have at least a high school diploma/equivalent or related experience in the field of ASD/Intellectual Disabilities Services. A general understanding of autism spectrum disorder/intellectual disabilities is important to understanding the goals and mission of the organization. A love of working with children who have ASD/Intellectual Disabilities is essential to success of the individual in this position. Working knowledge and experience in education or psychology is helpful. Multitasking and attention to details are necessary. Patience, excellent communication, both written and orally, are essential.
