Foundation Student Coordinator
The Northern Michigan University Foundation and Alumni Relations Student Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing donor stewardship efforts and supporting the fundraising activities of the NMU Foundation Office. This position offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in donor relations, personalized video messaging using Gratavid, coordination of Foundation events like the President's Suite, and administrative tasks related to advancement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
1. Donor Stewardship and Engagement:
- Collaborate with the Director of Donor Appeals and Stewardship and fellow Student Coordinator to create and implement strategic stewardship initiatives.
- Assist in designing and implementing innovative ways to acknowledge donors, fostering strong relationships and a sense of connection with the university.
- Contribute to the Foundation's story telling through sharing Gratavid video highlights, event photos, marketing support, and student success stories, fostering a sense of community among donors and supporters.
2. Gratavid Video Messaging:
- Utilize Gratavid software to create and send personalized video messages to donors, updating them on the impact of their support and sharing stories of success.
- Readiness to spend time in front of the camera for videos such as sending donors birthday wishes and other messaging.
- Coordinate and collect video content from fellow students across campus that will resonate with various donor segments.
- Assist with increasing annual donor stewardship through the use of Grativid.
3. Foundation Events (President's Suite, Day of Giving, Alumni events etc):
- Assist in coordinating event logistics, and ensuring an exceptional experience for donors attending these events.
- Attend, when possible, the President’s Suite and other university/foundations events to set-up, welcome guests, and represent the student body.
- Support Giving Tuesday and NMU Giving Day promotions and stewardship.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at NMU.
- Good academic standing.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be comfortable in a professional working setting while interacting with campus departments, alumni, donors, students and the general public.
- Possess excellent organizational skills, demonstrate initiative, and have the ability to work independently to prioritize and accomplish time-sensitive tasks.
- Ability to keep and maintain confidentiality when dealing with private information.
- Creativity and a genuine interest in fostering donor relationships.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft or a willingness to learn video messaging platforms.
- Prior experience in donor relations, event planning, or customer service is advantageous.
