Peer Support Specialist

Peer Support Specialist – Waukesha Courts Conditional Release

Make a difference through lived experience and recovery!

We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide one-on-one support to individuals involved with the Waukesha Courts Conditional Release program. This position helps individuals connect with community resources, build on their strengths, and take an active role in their recovery.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide one-on-one peer support in the community.
  • Connect individuals with mental health, substance use, family/natural supports, and other community resources.
  • Empower individuals through voice, choice, and self-determined recovery goals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and regular communication with referring case managers.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, conferences, and community outreach.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.
  • Drive regularly for work-related and community-based activities.

What You’ll Need

  • Completion of the State Peer Support Training curriculum and ability to pass the certification test within the first 6 months.
  • Peer support experience preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and required auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass required background, drug, and driving record checks.
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance use, and/or community resources.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, adaptability, and professional boundary skills.
