Position Summary

The Business Intelligence Developer Intern is a summer position within TransImpact's Professional Services organization designed to provide hands-on experience in business intelligence, data analytics, consulting, and solution delivery.

The intern will work alongside experienced BI Developers, consultants, analysts, and project teams to support client engagements while developing practical skills in data, analytics, finance, supply chain, business processes, and client service.

This role is intended for a student interested in learning how technology and analytics are used to solve real business problems. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute to active projects, support billable team members, and gain exposure to a variety of industries and business models through the clients TransImpact serves.

Key Responsibilities

• Support BI Developers, analysts, and consultants on active client projects and internal initiatives.
• Assist with data extraction, validation, transformation, analysis, and reporting activities.
• Develop foundational skills in SQL, relational databases, data modeling, and data integration.
• Assist with the development, testing, and validation of Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytics.
• Learn how business intelligence solutions are designed to turn data into actionable business insights.
• Support data-quality reviews and help identify inconsistencies, trends, and potential business issues.
• Learn core supply chain concepts including demand planning, inventory, purchasing, sales, forecasting, and related business processes.
• Gain exposure to financial concepts and how operational decisions affect revenue, cost, margin, inventory, and overall business performance.
• Participate in project meetings, working sessions, demonstrations, and internal team discussions.
• Assist in preparing presentations, documentation, analysis, and other materials used with clients.
• Develop professional communication and presentation skills through interaction with project teams and, when appropriate, client stakeholders.
• Learn TransImpact's Proven Process and how Professional Services teams deliver successful client engagements.
• Support project teams in maintaining high standards for accuracy, responsiveness, documentation, and client satisfaction.
• Gain exposure to different industries, organizational structures, business challenges, and decision-making processes through TransImpact's client portfolio.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Interest in data, analytics, technology, business processes, or consulting.
• Basic understanding of databases, spreadsheets, analytics, programming, or related coursework.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage assigned work, meet deadlines, and ask questions when additional direction is needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or experience with SQL, relational databases, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Python, or similar analytical tools.
• Coursework in supply chain, finance, accounting, statistics, analytics, or business operations.
• Previous internship, academic project, or work experience involving data or analytics.
• Experience presenting analytical findings or recommendations to others.
