Tutor
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Help students complete daily homework and school assignments
- Explain concepts and provide support in reading, writing, literacy, and mathematics
- Review completed work for accuracy and completeness
- Encourage strong study habits, organization, and independent learning
- Supervise and actively engage students in educational activities, games, reading, and enrichment
- Maintain a safe, caring, positive, and welcoming learning environment
- Support appropriate classroom behavior and daily routines
- Communicate with staff about students’ academic progress, homework, and behavior
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong elementary-level literacy, reading, writing, and math skills
- Patient, caring, dependable, and responsible
- Enjoys working with children
- Comfortable supervising and supporting multiple students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to actively engage with students—not simply monitor them
- Good judgment and a commitment to student safety and well-being
GREAT FOR
- Current college students
- Recent graduates
- Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, English, Mathematics, and related majors
- Applicants with tutoring, teaching, childcare, camp, or youth-program experience
Previous experience is preferred but not required. Related majors are welcome but not required.
OUR IDEAL TUTOR
Someone who genuinely enjoys working with children, takes initiative, and balances caring supervision with meaningful academic support. You should be willing to sit with students, review their work, explain mistakes, and help them understand—not simply provide answers.
