Marketing and Development Intern

The Marketing and Development Intern supports Lone Star Circle of Care's Communications & Marketing and Development teams through a variety of marketing, communications, fundraising, and community engagement activities. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit healthcare marketing, public relations, donor relations, event planning, and digital communications. The intern will assist with content creation, reputation management, community outreach, fundraising initiatives, and special events while gaining valuable experience in strategic communications and nonprofit development.

 

Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Assist with internal and external communications, marketing, media, and public relations initiatives.
  • Generate ideas and capture content for social media platforms.
  • Update and maintain the organization’s website.
  • Monitor and update Google Review tracking spreadsheets.
  • Respond to online reviews in accordance with organizational guidelines.
  • Capture provider and staff headshots and other visual assets.
  • Organize and manage marketing files, photos, and creative assets.
  • Print, distribute, and track marketing materials and flyers across clinic locations.
  • Assemble and distribute promotional items and swag bags for events and awareness campaigns, including National Health Center Week.
  • Support community outreach and marketing campaigns that promote Lone Star Circle of Care services and programs.

Development & Fundraising Support

  • Assist with planning and coordinating fundraising events, including the annual Big Pink Benefit and other donor engagement activities.
  • Support digital fundraising campaigns and outreach initiatives.
  • Follow up with donors and sponsors and assist with stewardship activities.
  • Maintain donor records and support updates within fundraising databases.
  • Prepare fundraising materials, event collateral, and donor communications.
  • Write thank-you notes and donor acknowledgments.
  • Assemble mailings, sponsorship packets, and development materials.
  • Organize event supplies, timelines, and planning documents.
  • Provide administrative support to the Development team as needed.

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with graphic design software such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience photography, social media content creation, or fundraising software 
  • Passion for community health, nonprofit work, and serving diverse populations.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

  • Current college student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Healthcare Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business, Journalism, or a related field.
