Head Preschool Teacher

Position Overview

  • Job Title: Head Preschool Teacher
  • Reports to: Preschool Director
  • Employment Type: Full-Time / Exempt
  • Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000 per year, varying by education, certification, and location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum & Instruction: Design, implement, and adapt weekly lesson plans that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, clean, and organized environment that supports positive behavior and independent learning.
  • Student Assessment: Observe, document, and evaluate each child's progress to tailor individualized instruction and development goals.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, aides, and classroom volunteers.
  • Parent Communication: Conduct regular parent-teacher conferences and provide daily updates on child progress and classroom activities.
  • Compliance & Safety: Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards in strict accordance with state licensing regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field.
  • Certification: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or state-specific teaching permit required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of lead teaching experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool.
  • Certifications: Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, alongside clear background checks and fingerprinting clearance.
  • Key Skills: Patient demeanor, high emotional intelligence, excellent classroom control, and strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and interact at a child's eye level.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during outdoor play and gym activities.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
