Head Preschool Teacher
Position Overview
- Job Title: Head Preschool Teacher
- Reports to: Preschool Director
- Employment Type: Full-Time / Exempt
- Salary Range: $50,000 to $55,000 per year, varying by education, certification, and location.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Instruction: Design, implement, and adapt weekly lesson plans that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, clean, and organized environment that supports positive behavior and independent learning.
- Student Assessment: Observe, document, and evaluate each child's progress to tailor individualized instruction and development goals.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor assistant teachers, aides, and classroom volunteers.
- Parent Communication: Conduct regular parent-teacher conferences and provide daily updates on child progress and classroom activities.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce health, safety, and hygiene standards in strict accordance with state licensing regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field.
- Certification: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or state-specific teaching permit required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of lead teaching experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool.
- Certifications: Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications, alongside clear background checks and fingerprinting clearance.
- Key Skills: Patient demeanor, high emotional intelligence, excellent classroom control, and strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and interact at a child's eye level.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during outdoor play and gym activities.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
