WHWS Student Station Manager

Position Title: WHWS Student Station Manager

Semester/Year: Fall 2026 

Total Positions Available: 

Hours Per Week: up to 20 

Supervisor: Kelly Walker 

Pay rate: $16.00 per hour 

Start Date: 8/31/2026

End Date: 12/2026

 

Description

WHWS is the low-power FM (LP FM) student radio station serving the HWS campus community and immediate City of Geneva. The station offers music, sports, and Spanish language programming. WHWS also offers a digital audio stream available to listeners anywhere. The WHWS Student Station Manager assists the WEOS / WHWS General Manager in all aspects of broadcast operations including recruiting, training, and scheduling student DJs and producers, as well as supporting campus and community outreach, social media, and on-air programming elements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain a collegial, team environment for WHWS volunteer DJs and student producers 
  • Serve as principal liaison between WEOS / WHWS General Manager and student volunteers
  • Promote WHWS to the campus community 
  • Maintain regular office hours 
  • Ability to work independently without constant direct supervision

 

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Strong computer skills. Knowledge or familiarity with multi-media software is helpful, but not required 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strong editing skills, especially short-form writing 
  • Applicants must be a current HWS student 
  • First consideration will be given to existing WHWS student workers. Applicants must have a minimum of one semester volunteering at WHWS
