Part-time German Language Instructor

PART-TIME GERMAN INSTRUCTOR

Location: 4607 South Central Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90011
Start Date: September 17, 2026
Pay: $25–$40/hour, based on experience

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic German Instructor to lead an engaging language enrichment program for young learners.

You’ll introduce students to German through interactive activities, games, conversation, cultural exploration, and creative learning experiences. Students will build foundational language skills while developing confidence and curiosity about communicating in a new language.

The goal isn't simply to teach vocabulary and grammar. It's to make German approachable, engaging, and fun—and give students an experience that makes them excited to keep learning.

You do not need to be a traditional classroom teacher to apply. If you have a strong foundation in German, enjoy the language and culture, and can confidently guide students through beginner-level concepts, we encourage you to apply.

Curriculum guidance and instructional materials are provided, so you’ll have a clear foundation for each class while still having room to bring your own personality, creativity, and teaching style.

What You'll Do

  • Lead engaging and interactive German language classes
  • Introduce practical German vocabulary, pronunciation, everyday expressions, and foundational grammar
  • Help students practice basic communication and conversational skills
  • Use games, activities, storytelling, songs, and creative exercises to make learning engaging
  • Introduce age-appropriate aspects of German-speaking cultures and traditions
  • Demonstrate pronunciation and language concepts clearly
  • Encourage students to participate and practice without fear of making mistakes
  • Adapt instruction and activities to different ages, abilities, and experience levels
  • Encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Provide positive and constructive feedback
  • Maintain an organized and positive classroom environment
  • Communicate professionally with program coordinators and school staff
  • Arrive prepared, dependable, and ready to engage students

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has native, heritage, fluent, or advanced German proficiency
  • Has a genuine interest in German language and culture
  • Can confidently teach beginner-level German concepts
  • Can clearly explain vocabulary, pronunciation, and basic language concepts
  • Is patient, enthusiastic, and encouraging
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is comfortable leading and engaging groups of students
  • Can adapt activities to different learning styles and experience levels
  • Is reliable, professional, and organized
  • Can follow provided curriculum while bringing creativity and personality to the classroom

Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Experience in German instruction, tutoring, education, language programs, mentoring, camps, youth programs, or related fields is a plus.

We encourage native and fluent German speakers, heritage speakers, German language students, multilingual professionals, educators, college students, recent graduates, aspiring teachers, and anyone passionate about sharing German language and culture to apply.

Why You'll Love This Role

  • Competitive Pay: $25–$40/hour, based on experience and qualifications

  • Interactive Teaching: Use games, conversation, activities, storytelling, and cultural exploration
