Ground Support Equipment Training Coordinator Intern

Job Overview

To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable professional to join our team as a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Training Coordinator Intern in our GSE Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the development, coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of GSE manuals and training programs across Piedmont's GSE network. This role provides hands-on exposure to aviation operations, training program administration, equipment management, data analysis, and process improvement initiatives. Working directly with the GSE Training Coordinator, the intern will assist with training documentation, manuals administration, equipment shipping dimensions, training material development, reporting, and field support activities. This position plays an important role in ensuring front-line employees receive timely, accurate, and compliant GSE training by helping support operational safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance throughout the organization. This position will report to the GSE Training Coordinator. 

 

Essential Duties: 

Assist with the administration and coordination of GSE training programs 

Assist with training records and tracking systems 

Develop, update, and organize training presentations, manuals, job aids, and instructional materials as needed 

Analyze training completion metrics and prepare reports for leadership review 

Assist with training event planning, scheduling, and logistics 

Support American Regional website with data entry, maintenance, and reporting 

Assist with documenting standard operating procedures and process improvements 

Perform audits of training records to ensure accuracy and compliance 

Participate in GSE projects involving equipment deployment, maintenance programs, and operational readiness initiatives 

Collaborate with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Training teams on special projects and assignments 

Travel occasionally to stations or training events as needed 

Job Qualifications and Competencies

Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Technical Education, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Operations Management, or another related field 

Strong organizational and administrative skills 

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities 

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously 

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities 

Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams) 

Ability to work independently and within a team environment 

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy 

Ability to learn technical concepts related to ground support equipment and aviation operations 

Demonstrates initiative and accountability 

Shows a willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned projects 

Displays professionalism when interacting with team members and stakeholders 

Ability to Identify process improvement opportunities 

Uses data and analytical thinking to support decision-making 

Able to assist in resolving administrative and operational training challenges 

Able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision 

Ability to maintain organized project and record-keeping systems 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Prior internship, work-study, or leadership experience in aviation, transportation, logistics, maintenance, or operations 

Experience creating training materials or instructional content 

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) 

Experience with Power BI, data visualization, or reporting tools 

Working knowledge of aviation ground operations or ground support equipment 

Strong presentation and public speaking skills 

Dean's List, academic honors, or merit-based scholarship recognition 

Coursework in training and development, adult learning, project management, aviation safety, technical writing, and/or data analytics 

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), safety, or project management certifications 

Participation in aviation, engineering, or business-related student organizations 

Work Environment: 

Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment 

Flexible schedule based on business and academic requirements 

Occasional exposure to airport ramp, maintenance shop, and warehouse environments, including varying weather conditions and elevated noise levels 

May require occasional travel to support training events and operational initiatives 

Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing operational areas 

Physical Requirements: 

Occasional lifting up to 25lbs 

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods of time.

Employment is contingent upon a clear Driving Record, 10-year Criminal History Records Check, and Drug Screen as required. We also require proof of High School or GED completion. Minimum 18 years of age.  

 

Interns receive travel privileges on the American Airlines network. 

 

 

 

Starting Rate:

$16.93/Hourly
