SECS Micro-Intern: Academic Research

Position is part of the Micro-internship program in the School of Engineering and Computer Science

Must be Freshman or Sophomore Standing

• The role will include a research project in the Mechanical Engineering Department.
• This project will introduce the student to tribology, surface characterization, and quantitative data analysis through hands-on laboratory work. 
• The participant will use a 3D optical profilometer to characterize wear surfaces from existing tribological tests, including measurements of surface roughness, wear depth, and wear volume in the Tribology and Corrosion Lab.

Duration: 2 hours per week over a course of 20 weeks.  Total of 40 hours

Majors: Engineering Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering
