Job Title: Teaching Fellow/Teacher

Current Deadline: Monday, September 28th

Description

Your students are waiting. Are you ready to lead a classroom?

City Teaching Alliance prepares career-changers and recent grads to become highly effective teachers - no education degree or classroom experience required to start. You'll teach in a high-need school from day one while earning a Master's degree from leading regional university partners, dual certification, and 1:1 coaching from a mentor and host teacher. This isn't teaching alone and figuring it out; it's teaching with a team behind you.

We're seeking passionate individuals to teach Elementary Education, Secondary Math, or Secondary Literacy in:

  • Greater DC Metro
  • Baltimore & the state of Maryland
  • Dallas and the surrounding Metroplex
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Fellows commit to at least three years in the classroom; enough time to see the real, compounding impact of great teaching on your students.

Why Join Us

City Teaching Alliance prepares educators through our 5Cs:

  • Coaching & Mentoring - Personalized, 1:1 guidance from a veteran teacher who's done this before (in Dallas, this mentor is your "host teacher") to help you grow faster than you would alone.
  • Clinical Placement - Real classroom experience in high-need schools from day one, not a semester of theory before you ever meet a student.
  • Coursework - Earn a Master’s degree from a leading regional university partner, which you can use as a launch pad for leadership roles down the line.
  • Certification - Graduate with dual certification: your content area and Special Education.
  • Care - Join a network of 2,400+ educators nationwide who are still showing up for students long after their first year.

Compensation

  • Year 1: Fellowship stipend up to $40,000 + benefits
  • Years 2-4: Full-time teaching salary of $50,000–$60,000 + education awards, grants, and scholarships (totaling $22,000–$25,000 for eligible participants)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree by June 2027
  • Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA
  • US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or DACA recipient

Start Date

Mid-June 2027

Why This Work, Right Now

  • Greater DC Metro: The district has named Math, Science, Special Education, and Elementary Education as high-need areas. If you have a background or interest in any of these, this is a direct, supported path into the classroom.
  • Philadelphia: There are 2,000 classrooms that need a great teacher. Which means that you have a real opportunity to be the person a specific group of students needs.
  • Baltimore & the state of Maryland: Maryland's Blueprint for the Future is directing $3.8 billion in additional education funding every year. This is your chance to be part of that transformation from inside the classroom, not from the sidelines.
  • Dallas and the Metroplex: TEA reports that more than 42,000 educators across Texas were teaching without an active certification in the 2024–25 school year. Every student deserves a prepared, supported teacher; this program builds exactly that.
