Polyester Production Manager

 

NATURE OF THE POSITION

 

The Polyester Production Manager will oversee all West Deptford plant production, for safety, quality productivity and profitability.  This role will directly manage and coordinate the activities of plant operations within a production unit of Plant Operators, Shift Leaders and Control Room Operators. 

               

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Production

 

  • Cooperate with Director of Manufacturing and/or Process Engineer on investigation of reaction time reduction Vs Glycol Lost.
  • Execute the Polyester Production schedule according the required volumes, quality and timing
  • Supervise operator’s activities in order to maximize reactor efficiency, minimize raw material unloading delays.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals through a daily shift notes log.
  • Confer with other supervisors and manager to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the operator position.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of the plant based on theoretical yield of the batches and through the Production Numbers Database.
  • Develop a good knowledge of the plant and equipment you supervise.
  • Make sure required maintenance is asked for in a timely manner.

 

Inventory

 

  • Cooperate with Supply Chain department to commit the production schedule and ensure on-time shipments to customers.
  • Cooperate with Supply Chain department to investigate and resolve significant raw material/finished product variances.
  • Cooperate with the Production Administrator, through unit operators, periodically cycle count of bulk material.
  • Work with Operations Management and QA laboratory to minimize rework levels by proposing dispositions.
  • Manage Trough Supply Chain Department Inbound and Outbound on Railcar Side to ensure continuity on operations.

 

 

Personnel

 

  • Establish Standard through the Production Lead Operator on how monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Cooperate with HR and Operations Management in the documentation of progressive discipline and conduct the correction of unacceptable employee behavior and performance issues.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Interpret company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Participate at the interview and unit tour of new candidates.
  • Ensure proper training is provided to operators through the Plant trainee.

 

Quality

 

  • Indicate to Director of Manufacturing and Process Engineer Feedback on operations and reaction, based on productivity and efficiency.
  • Participate in quality investigations and/or customer complaints that generated in the production unit.
  • Assist Director of Manufacturing on resolution of customer complaints and Corrective action through E-Prism.
  • Work with Process Engineering and Director of Manufacturing on any improvement program for the quality of the products. As sequences of charging, quality of the raw material and product families compatibilities.

 

Safety

 

  • Maintain an exemplary conduct at all time and enforce Coim USA Policies and Procedures as required.
  • Establish with Director of Manufacturing a training program and evaluate if upgrades are needed.
  • Oversee the Training of the unit through the Production Trainee.
  • stablish with Director of Manufacturing and Production Lead Operator the operations and safety condition for the work in the unit. Develop Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work with Production Administrator on any active improvement programs.
  • Participate with HE&S and Director of Manufacturing for incident investigations and root causes.
  • Actively participate in plants safety program.
  • Assure all personnel are wearing PPE.
  • Sign and authorize work permit Hot Working Permits.

 

Housekeeping 

 

  • Ensure housekeeping in both the production Units and Oversee Housekeeping Plan.

 

               

Specific knowledge, skills and Education/Experience

 

  • A minimum of a technical diploma in Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or appropriate technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in engineering and/or management in production/manufacturing. We will consider other combinations of education and experience for an exceptional candidate.
  • Accomplishments with organizational facilitation, teambuilding, mentoring, delegation, trouble-shooting and problem-solving.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. (Experience with either or both a strong plus.)
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new challenges.
  • Strong skills in MS Office and operating systems (SAP, Oracle, Navision)
  • Strong skills in Process Liquid Control systems
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to motivate individuals and groups at all levels. You will work with a diverse group of professionals and must be able to relate effectively to all. 

                             

 

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

  • Wear protective or safety equipment such as a respirator as needed.
  • Walking between departments, using stairs and climbing ladders.
  • Bending and lifting up to 50lbs manually and unassisted.
  • Available to response to any plant situations 24/7 that is necessary for immediate resolution.
