Cyber Embedded Academic Support

Job Title: Temp Level 2 Cyber Embedded Academic Support

Location: Southern and Dobson, Mesa Community College

Full/Part Time: Part-time

Regular/Temporary: Temporary

Hourly Rate: $15.15-$26.80 (depends on experience)

Not Eligible for Benefits: This is a part-time temporary position, not eligible for benefits.

Work Schedule (days/times - include total hours per week, from position number):

Varied hours with a maximum of 19.5 hours per week

M-F days and evenings

Job Summary:

This position involves the provision of intermediate to advanced academic/instructional support to students (one-on-one and small groups up to five people) in one or more content areas within the Computer Information Systems (CIS) field (including, but not limited to Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Cloud Computing, and Network and Systems Administration.  This position will take place at the Mesa Community College (MCC) Southern and Dobson campus. Other positional duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides intermediate to advanced one-on-one and small group academic services, online and/or in-person for the CIS department
  • Provides assistance to other lab assistants as needed
  • Provides courteous customer service in person and virtually
  • Maintains professionalism including punctuality and effective communication
  • Access to the following academic platforms: Cranium Cafe and Canvas
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and some college
  • Successful completion (B letter grade or higher) of Computer Information Systems/Information Technology courses such as CIS105: Survey of Computer Information Systems or BPC110: Computer Usage and Applications.
  • Experience with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Competency in some or of all of the following areas:
    • Network Fundamentals
    • Security Fundamentals
    • Systems Administration (Windows/Linux)
    • Cloud fundamentals (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Experience establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.


 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in CIS and/or equivalent (at least 50 credits completed at an accredited institution)
  • Experience assisting students with CIS course work/assignments.
  • Achieved a certification, completed coursework, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge of:
    • AWS Academy, Red Hat Academy, Cisco Networking Academy (CCNA/CCST), or EC-Council (e.g., CEH, Security+)
  • Experience with Cisco Network Academy Learning platform, uCertify, AWS Academy, EC Council, CompTIA
  • Willing to work morning, afternoon and/or evening hours
  • Willing to learn new tools and programs
  • Candidates with experience strongly preferred


 

Special Working Conditions:

  • May require travel to campus during interview/selection process, which will be at candidate’s own expense
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May require working alternating open and close shifts
