PR And Media Relations Manager

PR AND MEDIA RELATIONS MANAGER
Make Me Visible and Healveda Care

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS

Make Me Visible is being built to support people who become invisible when families, healthcare systems, employers, professionals, law enforcement, or other institutions fail them. Its work centers on evidence, accountability, continuity, protection, advocacy, and making sure vulnerable people are not left without a credible witness.

Healveda Care is building a more coordinated and accountable model of care for people living with autoimmune, hormonal, thyroid, and other complex health conditions.

THE POSITION

We are looking for a PR and Media Relations Manager who can build meaningful relationships with journalists, editors, producers, podcast hosts, documentary teams, newsletters, and other credible media channels.

This is not a social-media posting position. It is not a job for someone who sends generic press releases and waits. We need someone who can recognize a serious story, understand why it matters now, identify the exact reporter or producer who should receive it, and pursue the opportunity with judgment and persistence.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

• Develop separate media plans for Make Me Visible and Healveda Care.

• Identify journalists, editors, producers, podcast hosts, documentary teams, newsletters, and publications whose work directly relates to our subject matter.

• Research each media contact’s actual reporting history before recommending or contacting them.

• Create strong story angles based on current events, original company work, founder expertise, patient experiences, evidence, and broader public importance.

• Write individualized pitches that explain why the story belongs with that particular journalist or program.

• Build relationships before, during, and after a media opportunity.

• Track every pitch, response, follow-up, interview, request, publication, and next step.

• Prepare the founder for interviews with background information, expected questions, supporting facts, and the strongest central message.

• Maintain press materials, founder biographies, company descriptions, media summaries, supporting documents, and approved visual assets.

• Identify opportunities to respond to breaking news without forcing either organization into an unrelated conversation.

• Correct inaccurate descriptions and protect the integrity of both organizations’ work.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Pitches are sent to the right journalists for clearly documented reasons.

• Media contacts understand the difference between Make Me Visible and Healveda Care.

• Stories carry substance and are not reduced to generic founder profiles.

• Interviews are prepared for thoroughly.

• Every media lead receives appropriate follow-through.

• Relationships continue beyond a single pitch.

• Media opportunities lead to credible visibility, public understanding, partnerships, or action.

NON-NEGOTIABLE WORK STANDARD

The people these organizations serve cannot afford passive advocacy. This work requires urgency, accuracy, persistence, and the ability to act while an issue is still timely.

You must be able to research independently, recognize what makes a story important, and recommend the next move. You should not need the founder to repeatedly explain the mission, provide every contact, rewrite every pitch, or remind you to follow up.

Missed deadlines, generic pitches, inaccurate claims, unverified contacts, unexplained silence, or repeated dependence on step-by-step instructions will end the working relationship quickly.

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Apply if you:

• Understand how journalists, editors, producers, and podcast teams evaluate stories.

• Can find a specific public-interest angle instead of relying on promotional language.

• Write concise pitches with a clear reason to care now.

• Can handle sensitive healthcare, disability, institutional-failure, and advocacy subjects responsibly.

• Know the difference between media activity and a credible media opportunity.

• Can follow a story through from research to publication.

• Take ownership and continue working when the obvious pitch does not succeed.

PROOF-OF-ABILITY REQUIREMENT

Applicants must submit:

Five media contacts: at least two for Make Me Visible and two for Healveda Care.

Evidence showing why each person is relevant.

One original story angle for each organization.

A complete pitch email for each story angle.

The follow-up plan if the journalist does not respond.

Famous names without relevance, generic media lists, and copied pitch templates will not be considered.
