CDC Steven M Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness Fellowship

The CDC Steven M. Teutsch Prevention Effectiveness (PE) Fellowship is a two-year, post-doctoral, applied training fellowship. It addresses public health demand for quantitative policy analysis, health economics-based inquiry, integrative health services research, and rigorous decision modeling.

With each class, the PE fellowship builds a cadre of scientists whose work informs health decision makers with CDC, Congress, and non-governmental entities. The Prevention Effectiveness (PE) Fellowship provides experiential learning to assess the impact of public health policies, programs, and practices on health outcomes by determining their effectiveness, quality, and cost.  

PE fellows:

• Conduct research that advances the research agenda of the host site and contributes to CDC’s body of knowledge
• Evaluate the burden of specific diseases
• Participate in studies to assess the effectiveness of prevention strategies
• Assess the impact of public health policies, programs, and practices by determining their cost and cost-effectiveness
• Perform sophisticated modeling of diseases in populations
• Assist with study design, data management, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of results
• Serve as subject matter experts for applied economic and disease modeling initiatives
