Turtle Up is a registered nonprofit based in Ohio with 501(c)(3) designation. Our mission is to protect Ghana’s sea turtles through sustainable, community-based conservation. We envision a future where marine wildlife and coastal communities thrive together.

We are seeking a Grant Research & Writing Intern who is highly motivated, organized, and passionate about environmental conservation and social impact. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, and grant management, while directly supporting conservation work.

Details

• Location: Remote
• Hours: Flexible; part-time (10-15 hours/week minimum) or full-time
• Commitment: Preference given to candidates who can commit for at least 6 months
• Compensation: Unpaid, but offers valuable resume-building experiences and Eco-Trip opportunities to Ghana.

Intern Responsibilities

• Conduct targeted research to identify grant opportunities aligned with Turtle Up’s mission and current projects
• Draft, edit, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials
• Track deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting guidelines for prospective and awarded grants
• Receive support from current interns and leadership
• Participate in weekly intern team meetings via Zoom

Qualifications

• Prior experience with grant writing and budget creation (academic, internship, volunteer, or professional)
• Excellent research and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor content to various audiences
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to deadlines and detail
• Passionate about environmental sustainability, marine conservation, and/or non-profit work
• Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote setting
• Collaborative team player who is open to feedback and ongoing learning
