Help Kids Learn, Grow & Play Through Soccer

Gripped by the World Cup? Would love to be able to give back to your own community through soccer?

AYSO PLAY! is growing its youth programming across the Bay Area and is looking for enthusiastic, dependable coaches to join our team.

Programs in and around:
- Daly City
- Oakland
- Sunnyvale

Our programs use soccer as a tool to help children develop both on and off the field. Through fun, age-appropriate activities, we help players build confidence, learn teamwork and communication, stay active, and develop a lifelong enjoyment of the game.

We’re looking for positive, caring individuals who enjoy working with children and can create an environment where every player feels welcomed, supported and encouraged to participate.

You do not need extensive soccer coaching experience to apply. AYSO PLAY! provides training, curriculum, session plans and ongoing support to help you deliver engaging and successful programs.

The Role

As an AYSO PLAY! Coach, you will:

  • Lead fun and engaging soccer activities for elementary-aged children.
  • Use AYSO PLAY! curriculum and session resources to deliver quality programming.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all players.
  • Help children develop confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship and communication skills.
  • Build positive relationships with players, families and fellow coaches.
  • Manage groups effectively while keeping sessions energetic and enjoyable.
  • Arrive prepared and reliably fulfil accepted coaching assignments.

Who We’re Looking For

Experience working with children is highly valued, particularly through:

  • Education or teaching
  • Childcare or early childhood programs
  • Summer camps or youth organizations
  • Recreation or community programs
  • Mentoring or tutoring
  • Sports or coaching

Successful candidates will be:

  • Positive, patient and dependable
  • Comfortable working with elementary-aged children
  • Confident communicating with and managing groups
  • Enthusiastic about helping children learn and develop
  • Professional and reliable
  • Able to travel to AYSO PLAY! program locations across the Bay Area

Soccer experience is helpful, but not required. We provide the training, resources and support needed to help you become a successful AYSO PLAY! Coach.

Certifications

Preferred, but not required:

  • AYSO, USSF/US Youth Soccer or equivalent coaching certification

Required as part of onboarding:

  • California Live Scan background check
  • CPR certification

Applicable onboarding costs are covered.
