Social Media Intern
Social Media Intern
Encino, California | Hybrid / Remote | Full-Time Internship
BuzzStar is a social media tech startup building the next major social platform. We're looking for a driven Social Media Intern who wants to be part of something early-stage and meaningful.
The role
You'll work directly alongside our content and growth teams to help shape BuzzStar's presence across platforms. This isn't a "schedule posts and write reports" internship — you'll be plugging into real strategy, real decisions, and real output from day one.
What you'll do
- Monitor viral trends, memes, breaking moments, and emerging creators across TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, and beyond- Pitch and produce short-form content ideas that fit the BuzzStar voice and what's hitting right now- Track what streamers and creators are doing and surface opportunities for the team to jump in or collaborate- Help grow our social accounts through consistent, high-quality, timely posting- Assist with community engagement — comments, DMs, responses — keeping BuzzStar's presence sharp and active- Report on what's working: engagement, reach, follower growth, and why certain posts land
About you
- Genuinely obsessed with creator culture, internet trends, and the social media landscape- Fast. You see a trend forming and know instantly whether it fits.- Strong written voice — you can adapt tone and style across platforms without it feeling forced- Familiar with TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and X as a creator or heavy user, not just a consumer- Some experience making content, even if it's your own personal accounts- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field
Nice to have
- Experience with video editing tools (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci, anything works)- A personal following or creator background- Familiarity with social analytics tools- Experience working at or with a startup
What we offer
A front-row seat to building a social platform from the ground up. You'll learn more about how social media actually works — the algorithms, the content strategy, the creator economy — than you would in most full-time roles. Real ownership, real feedback, and a team that moves fast and takes this seriously.
