Schedule: Flexible — part-time and full-time schedules considered (20–40 hours/week)

Job Overview

Amos House is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Clinician with experience in co-occurring disorders to join a team doing some of the most meaningful work in Rhode Island. In this role, you will provide individual and group counseling to adults navigating substance use disorders and mental illness — meeting people where they are and walking alongside them in their recovery.

You won’t be working in a silo. Our behavioral health team is fully embedded in the Amos House community, which means your clients have access to housing specialists, employment coaches, peer supporters, case managers, prescribers, and a nurse care manager — all under one roof across 10+ programs. You’ll take the lead on understanding each person’s full picture and bringing in the right people to respond. We believe what happens in a clinical office is only one step on the journey to recovery, and we build our work around that belief.

Amos House launched its outpatient behavioral health program in 2023, building on nearly 50 years of service to community members who are unhoused or have histories of incarceration, trauma, and substance use. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Services

• Conduct intake, biopsychosocial, and spiritual assessments for new patients in general outpatient and intensive outpatient (substance use) settings
• Provide individual and group therapy for a caseload of up to 35–40 adults, addressing a wide range of behavioral health needs including substance use disorders
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans grounded in clinical assessments and evidence-based practice
• Offer crisis intervention and symptom stabilization to individuals experiencing acute emotional distress
• Rotate on-call shifts with other clinical staff as needed

Collaboration and Care Coordination

• Partner with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated, whole-person care for every client
• Advocate for clients’ needs and coordinate with external organizations and community partners
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision
• Serve as a resource to Amos House guests and staff on behavioral health needs and treatment strategies

Documentation and Compliance

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in accordance with agency policies and applicable legal requirements
• Write clear, timely treatment plans and case notes

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related mental health field.
• Valid licensure or certification as required by state regulations (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT).
• Proven experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders involving substance use and mental health conditions.
• Strong skills in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis.
• Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and clinical documentation standards.
• Experience working with diverse populations across cultural backgrounds in various settings including hospital environments and community clinics.
• Ability to perform client assessments in therapy sessions while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Excellent crisis management skills combined with the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical terminology related to behavioral health care.
