Utah Legislative Intern

The Legislative Intern Program offers Weber State University students a hands-on experience helping Utah legislators navigate the 45-day legislative session. Applications are open now until September 29th.

Job Overview & Responsibilities

Role: Legislative Intern

Major: All, especially business, finance, and economics for job opportunities after

Hours: 50–55 hours per week (average)

Duration: First week of January through the first week of March

Pay: $4,250 (subject to taxes) plus scholarship options available

Responsibilities: Assist legislators with bill summaries, constituent newsletters, talking points, scheduling, email correspondence, and other daily administrative and legislative support tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

Credit Requirement: Must have at least 60 earned college credits prior to the first day of the internship.

GPA Requirement: Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. A 3.5 GPA is preferred.

Professionalism: High standard of professional behavior and professional dress code required at all times.

Academic Information & Course Load

Course Credit: Opportunity to earn 12 academic credits via POLS 4865.

Course Limits: Students may not take any other classes during First Block. Additional coursework is permitted during Second Block after the session concludes.
