Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The Electronic Systems Laboratory Teaching Assistant supports the instructor in conducting hands-on laboratory activities involving the design, construction, testing, and analysis of electronic circuits and systems.
- Responsibilities include assisting students with building and troubleshooting analog and digital electronic circuits; using laboratory instrumentation to measure and characterize circuit behavior; helping students interpret schematics, component specifications, and experimental results; and providing individual and small-group assistance during laboratory sessions.
- The Teaching Assistant may also assist with preparing and testing laboratory exercises, setting up equipment and components, maintaining an organized and safe laboratory environment, and grading laboratory assignments and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidates should have successfully completed undergraduate coursework and laboratory experience in electronic circuits or electronic systems.
- Practical experience constructing, testing, and troubleshooting electronic circuits and using standard electrical engineering laboratory instrumentation is required.
- Experience with circuit simulation and electronic design tools is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (if any):
- Knowledge of fundamental analog and digital electronics, including diodes, transistors, operational amplifiers, amplifiers, filters, power supplies, and basic electronic system design and interfacing.
- Ability to read circuit schematics and component datasheets; construct and troubleshoot circuits; and safely operate laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, function generators, and DC power supplies is expected.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation and analysis software such as LTspice, Multisim, MATLAB, or equivalent tools is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to guide students through systematic circuit analysis, measurement, debugging, and interpretation of experimental results are required.
Anticipated Schedule:
Wednesday 2-5 pm with preparation time (max 10 hours/week)
