Freelance Loungewear Designer
HK Void is seeking a freelance designer to develop the first capsule collection for a new NYC luxury loungewear brand. The collection consists of three pieces: a long sleeve oversized top, a wide leg pant, and a floor-length robe. Creative direction, brand identity, fabric direction, and colorway are fully established. The designer's role is to execute — delivering sketches, tech packs, and fabric recommendations that allow NYC Garment District manufacturers to produce the collection.
The three pieces will be produced in heavyweight modal jersey and cupro, in black only for the first drop of 50 units per style. All three pieces carry a precision signature construction detail that requires careful technical execution and will be specified in full at brief stage.
The designer will be expected to:
- Deliver front, back, and side sketches for each piece
- Produce complete tech packs with full measurements, construction details, stitching instructions, and grading across XS–XL
- Recommend specific fabrics with NYC Garment District sourcing
- Be available for sampling consultations and manufacturer meetings in the NYC Garment District
This is a paid freelance engagement with milestones. Fee range: $2,500–$3,500 depending on experience. There is potential for ongoing collaboration as the brand grows.
Job Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience producing tech packs for knitwear or loungewear — portfolio samples required
- Strong knowledge of knit fabric construction, specifically modal jersey and cupro
- Understanding of elevated, minimal ready-to-wear aesthetics (Rick Owens, The Row as references)
- Knowledge of or existing relationships with NYC Garment District manufacturers preferred
- Ability to work independently from a detailed creative brief
- Based in New York City or able to attend in-person manufacturer meetings in the Garment District
- Recent graduates welcome
