SOLVE NYC designs and builds custom automation equipment and provides ongoing service and continuous improvement engineering for industrial clients. We're a small team, which means the work is varied, the ownership is real, and there's a lot of room to grow. If you like building one-of-a-kind systems from concept through startup — rather than being one engineer among hundreds working on a narrow slice of a project — this is that kind of shop.

The Role

We're looking for an electrical engineer or technician who's comfortable across the full lifecycle of a control panel and automation cell: from wiring and drawings, to control system design, to getting hands-on with the mechanical build. You'll work closely with a small team and have real input into how we design systems and how we run the shop.

What You'll Do

• Wire control panels and machine harnesses to electrical code and good industry practice
• Read and generate electrical drawings, using CAD software and following solid drawing conventions and applicable code
• Design control systems, including motion control with servo and stepper drives, and AC/DC drivers
• Work with sensors, inputs, and outputs, and build out I/O tables
• Integrate industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus
• Integrate third-party devices and components into our overall systems
• Get hands-on with mechanical assembly, cable and harness management, and general machine build-up
• Help create and maintain standard, efficient processes as we grow
• Travel occasionally for machine installation and deployment at client sites

What We're Looking For

• Solid wiring skills and familiarity with electrical code as applied to automated systems and control panels
• Ability to read and generate electrical drawings using CAD software
• Knowledge of control system design, motion control, servo/stepper systems, and AC/DC drivers
• Understanding of sensors, I/O, and I/O table generation
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, or similar)
• Willingness to work with your hands on mechanical assemblies and machine build-up
• General understanding of machinery and robotics, and genuine enthusiasm for building custom systems
• Comfort wearing multiple hats on a small team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility and willingness to learn
• Self-starter, able to work autonomously
• Familiarity with standard shop tools
• Interest in creating and maintaining efficient, standardized processes

Salary Range

$60,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience
