About Us & The Ground-Floor Opportunity
Batteries Plus of Central Iowa is locally owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team under BrightPost Services Group. We aren't just running a retail store—we are building the core leadership team that will help us scale our 5-year vision of expanding across four regional locations (Urbandale, Ankeny, Des Moines, and Ames).
We are not a typical retail store. We are a place where customers walk in with complex challenges—from dead power systems to broken screens—and walk out with solutions they can trust. As the Assistant Store Manager, you will join us on the ground floor to master store operations, co-lead our team, and position yourself to step into expanded leadership roles as our regional footprint grows.
What You’ll Do & Learn
Operational Leadership: Co-lead day-to-day store performance alongside the Store Manager, maintaining high standards across retail walkthroughs, daily cash controls, and commercial order fulfillment.
Team Mentorship: Mentor, train, and coach Retail Technicians on diagnostic standards, technical repair processes, and customer-first communication.
Technical Problem-Solving: Learn to diagnose battery failures, execute smartphone/tablet screen repairs, program key fobs, and troubleshoot industrial power applications (100% paid technical training provided).
Commercial Account Management & Logistics: Act as the primary operational link for key commercial business clients—managing bulk inventory accuracy, localized order tracking, and logistical scheduling.
Who You Are
Ambitious & Ready to Lead: 1+ years of supervisory experience in retail or operations, OR a strong desire and demonstrated readiness to step into your first business management role.
Technically Curious: You enjoy understanding how things work and taking pride in hands-on problem-solving (no prior repair experience required).
Organized & Logistics-Minded: Detail-oriented with a data-driven approach to tracking inventory, managing client orders, and balancing multiple daily priorities.
Strong Communicator: Clear, professional interpersonal skills for building long-term trust with everyday shoppers and local commercial accounts.
Why Join Us?
Direct Growth Path: Be part of the foundational team scaling our brand into four locations across Central Iowa.
Paid Upskilling: Gain industry certifications and technical repair skills on our dime.
Impact & Ownership: Work directly with local business owners in a flat, high-visibility leadership structure.
