Responsibilities:

• Help students strengthen their foundational skills in drawing, painting, composition, color, perspective, observational studies, and sketchbook development.
• Teach engaging portfolio art classes in a supportive, structured, and inspiring learning environment.
• Guide students in developing technically strong, conceptually thoughtful, and personally meaningful artwork.
• Mentor students through the full portfolio-development process, including brainstorming, research, experimentation, refinement, presentation, and final selection.
• Support students in developing their individual artistic voices rather than producing formulaic or overly teacher-directed work.
• Provide thoughtful, individualized feedback and constructive critiques to help students improve their technical abilities and creative decision-making.
• Track students’ progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding their development, achievements, and areas for continued growth.
• Maintain a safe, organized, professional, and inspiring studio environment.
• Participate actively in team meetings, teacher training, and professional-development activities.
• Help organize student exhibitions and other opportunities to showcase and celebrate student artwork.
• Represent CalColor Academy at community events, exhibitions, and art-related activities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Art, Illustration, Art Education, or a related field.
• Exceptional foundational art skills, with demonstrated proficiency in drawing, painting, composition, color, perspective, observational studies, and sketchbook development.
• A strong personal portfolio demonstrating technical ability, creativity, and conceptual development.
• Experience developing student portfolios is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience and enthusiasm for teaching art to children and teenagers.
• Ability to guide students at different skill levels while encouraging both technical growth and creative independence.
• Strong group-facilitation and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive, and age-appropriate artistic feedback.
• Excellent communication skills when working with students, parents, and colleagues.
• A cheerful, energetic, and encouraging teaching style that engages and motivates young artists.
• A collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to teamwork.
• A genuine passion for nurturing creativity and supporting students’ artistic growth.
